A waxed jacket develops character with every wear. With a little care, it will continue to protect you through changing seasons for many years.
Clean it gently
Allow mud to dry before brushing it away with a soft clothes brush. For remaining marks, use a clean cloth or sponge with cold water.
Avoid soap, detergent and hot water. Do not machine wash, tumble dry or dry clean your jacket, as these processes can remove its protective wax coating.
Let it dry naturally
Hang your jacket in a well-ventilated place and allow it to dry at room temperature. Keep it away from radiators, fires and other direct heat, which can damage the fabric and its finish.
Reproof when needed
Over time, frequently worn areas may begin to look lighter or feel dry. Apply a suitable wax dressing sparingly to a clean, dry jacket, working it evenly into the fabric with a soft cloth. Pay particular attention to seams, shoulders and areas that receive the most wear.
Allow the jacket to dry naturally before wearing or storing it.
Store it well
Hang your jacket on a sturdy, broad hanger in a cool, dry place. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and do not store it while damp. Its natural patina, creases and subtle variations are part of the character of waxed cotton.
